Obelisks at Royal Botanic Gardens Kew

14,000 trees live in the landscape at Kew (a UNESCO World Heritage site)

Each group of trees has been planted carefully and considerately in ‘family groups’.

The new obelisks were commissioned to interpret the story of each family group, the capacity to present new or updated information and provide a source of way-finding for the visitor.

The design relied upon sustainability and sitting comfortably in the landscape. The design uses sustainably resourced English Oak living up to the challenge of withstanding the micro-climatical weather within the grounds and its potential to age naturally and remain looking beautiful.
